Who has the Advantage? - LEC 3/20 1PM ET Slate (5 Games)
LEC 3/20 1PM
ET (5 Games) Notes
Mad Lions
(-550) vs SK Gaming (+335)
First thing to note
is that SK is starting their Academy League top laner, Ventair. I haven’t watched
much of his gameplay, but from his statistics he is pretty average. I wouldn’t
expect this to be much of an upgrade if at all over Sacre. SK are still SK, and aren't particularly good as is.
Mad Lions are in the
logjam of teams in the LEC fighting for playoff positioning, that fact will be
brought up a lot for many of the favourites on this slate, as most of these
games are important for standings purposes. Mad Lions are no doubt the better
team here and should win this relatively easily.

FC Schalke
04 (+225) vs Misfits Gaming (-315)
Schalke has been
better since their Forgiven experiment ended. Innaxe has come in and done a solid
job for them. Abbedagge is still one of the players with the most carry
potential in the LEC, but with him it is often boom or bust. Their recent play
is why these odds are the way they are, with the difference in their respective
records looking quite large.
Misfits are an
interesting team, after an 0-2 start they became the hottest team in the league
and were promptly overrated by most people. Now they have settled back into a more
reasonable ranking and are still jostling for their playoff seeding. This is a
game they want to win badly, and if they can attack Schalke early and often,
they should win this game.

Excel
Esports (+345) vs Fnatic (-575)
Excel is in a tough
spot this weekend, they face both Fnatic and G2. They need this win to fight
for playoffs, but I don’t think it will be easy. Mickey is too volatile for my
liking, and Caedrel disappears more often than I’d like as well. The first matchup was
close, and potentially this one may be too, but I don’t expect Excel to win out in the end.
Fnatic are fighting
for 1st seed in the LEC, and this game will secure playoffs if won.
They are an established veteran team led by Rekkles and will rely on him to
take over the game. Nemesis often plays a supportive mid to help assist him,
and with Bwipo’s strong weak-side play I expect the bottom-lane focus to
continueto play to FNC's strengths.
Advantage

Nemesis, Bwipo
Origen
(-750) vs Team Vitality (+425)
Origen plays a very
controlled style of League of Legends. They don’t make many mistakes and are
able to choke you out of games slowly and surely. They rarely lose to teams
worse than them because of this, and this season have only lost to G2 (twice),
Fnatic, and Rogue. If you can disrupt their style of play that is your best
chance of winning, but most teams cannot do it.
Vitality have been
pretty awful all year long, and although they have been slightly better in recent weeks, I don’t see much of a way for them to win against OG’s controlled
style of play unless they cheese them or another wacky situation. Playing
straight up, Origen will win this matchup.

G2 Esports
(-500) vs Rogue (+325)
G2 are the best team
in Europe. They have dominated the LEC for a while now and show no signs of
stopping this split. They do have an Invictus Gaming like tendency to randomly
punt games if they are not really focused, but against good teams G2 steps up
to the plate. Last time they played they controlled and defeated Fnatic (2nd
best team in LEC) with relative ease, using a very controlled and respectful
style of play. When G2 are playing like this they are one of the best teams in
the world,
Rogue are a good
team, and that actually does not really play in their favour in my opinion in
this matchup. As mentioned previously when G2 stops playing games, they are a
serious threat to every team out there. While Rogue has had a very good season
thus far, they are always just below the elite teams in the LEC, and struggle to compete with the upper echelon. I expect similar results from this match.
Advantage to:
G2
Players to watch: Caps,
Perkz, Jankos
The first slate of
LEC since the hiatus is an interesting one, while I do think that the
favourites will win out today, there are a couple teams that could have a shot
at upsetting (S04, XL). The playoff race is kicking into full effect, so these
games have higher stakes and they should be fun to watch. Good luck to everyone
out there!
